Netflix Confirms 'Stranger Things' Season 2
by EG
According to a report in Variety, the Netflix original series Stranger Things will be back for another season next year. Given that the horror series has been the most talked-about property on Netflix this summer, it comes as little surprise that the service is giving the green light to another batch of episodes.
Variety cites an unnamed source as saying that work on the new season has been underway for some time, and the series' creators have made no secret of the fact that they want to continue with the project. The report says that creators Matt and Ross Duffer will return to write the series' second season, and executive producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen will return, as well.
There is no word yet about the cast of the second season. The series' first season starred Wynona Ryder, Millie Brown and Matthew Modine.
Netflix has a track record of renewing nearly all of its original series, but Stranger Things was a no-brainer for renewal, given the buzz that surrounded it through the summer months. TV ratings company Symphony Advanced Media made headlines last week with its claim that, according to its data, Stranger Things has been one of the most-watched Netflix originals ever. Netflix, however, disputes the accuracy of Symphony's numbers while refusing to release viewership numbers of its own.
