Netflix Beats HBO at Emmy Nominations

Nobody knows how many people actually watch Netflix original programming, but we know that the Television Academy sure loves it. At this week's Emmy nominations announcement, Netflix took home more noms than any other content producer, including HBO, which is the traditional darling of the Academy. The 2018 Emmy nominations have been unveiled.
The Handmaid's Tale's Samira Wiley and New Amsterdam's Ryan Eggold on Thursday announced the 2018 Emmy nominations along with Television Academy chairman-CEO Hayma Washington and president-COO Maury McIntyre.
Netflix topped HBO with the most Emmy nominations, scoring 112 total noms to HBO's 108. It's the first time HBO hasn't led all nominees in 18 years.
The 70th annual Primetime Emmys are set to air on NBC for the first time since 2014 on Monday, Sept. 17, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Saturday Night Live's Colin Jost and Michael Che are set to host.
