Neil Patrick Harris to Host Tony Awards Again...Did 'How I Met Your Mother' Help?

Neil Patrick Harris to Host Tony Awards Again...Did 'How I Met Your Mother' Help? The Tony Awards nominations have been announced ("The Book of Mormon," the musical from the creators of "South Park," leads the pack with 14 noms), but today the question still remained: who will host the Tonys?

Answer: Neil Patrick Harris. It was reported this morning by Deadline that NPH, star of "How I Met Your Mother" and award-winning guest star on "Glee," is set to be the host of this year's Tony Awards. The show, which airs on CBS, has likely gone with Harris for two reasons: one, he hosted them before, and two, he stars on one of CBS' most popular shows.

Harris hosted the Tonys two years ago, but handed over the hosting duties to Sean Hayes last year. Hayes might have been invited back, but he will be busy shooting the "The Three Stooges."

NPH, being the multi-hyphenate that he is, does a great job with his hosting duties. So far, Harris has hosted both the Emmys and the Tonys, and performed admirably both times. With his background in musical theater (Harris recently appeared in a production of "Company" and sang in the Joss Whedon webseries "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog"), you can always count on NPH to break out the song and dance routines.
