NBC Summer Schedule Announced, Reality TV Reigns

NBC Summer Schedule Announced, Reality TV Reigns Summer is approaching, one spring month is already gone, and the weather is (very slowly) getting warmer. All of this can mean only one thing: your favorite shows will soon be gone until the fall.

NBC has swept some of the impending TV withdrawal anxiety away by announcing their summer lineup. While fans of scripted TV won't be too thrilled, reality TV fans (especially those who enjoy musical talent shows) should be happy to see what NBC has in store.

Among the returning programs are the second season of "The Marriage Ref," the sixth season of "America's Got Talent" and the only scripted program announced, "Law & Order: Los Angeles." New episodes of "Law & Order: LA" are starting immediately, but "America's Got Talent" doesn't premiere until Tuesday, May 31st.

The new shows premiering this summer are all reality programs. The biggest name might be "The Voice," which is NBC's newest attempt to capture some of the magic of "American Idol" in creating their own vocal competition. "The Voice" will be joined by three other brand-new reality series in "Still Standing," "Love in the Wild," and "It's Worth What?"

"Love in the Wild" is being promoted as "Survivor" meets "The Bachelor Pad"...we can only assume that means that contestants will have to complete challenges and eat bugs while trying to find love. Lord knows how they'll do that being out in the wild and not being able to groom themselves properly.

"Still Standing" is a game show competitive imported from Israel, in which contestants will compete in fast-paced, rapid-fire trivia challenges. The Israeli version is a big hit, so game show fans might want to check this one out.

Also in the game show category, "It's Worth What?" is a sort of "The Price is Right" and "Antiques Roadshow" mash-up in which contestants will have to guess what various found objects and antiques are worth. Cedric the Entertainer is set to host.

Specific premiere dates and more programs may be announced soon, so stay tuned!
