NBC Commits to More 'Timeless'
by EG
NBC's new time-travel drama Timeless will get a total of 16 episodes for its freshman season, the network announced this week. The new episode order will carry Timeless into February, when it will step aside to make room for a mid-season replacement.
The drama starring Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter and Malcolm Barrett has been performing solidly so far, placing fifth among new drama series for the season. The series currently airs in the 10pm Monday time slot, and this week, it took second place in the slot behind CBS' Scorpion. While Timeless' ratings have been acceptable, they've been well short of those of Blindspot, which debuted in the same time slot last year.
In February, Timeless will give up the time slot to NBC's reboot of the film franchise Taken. That series will star Clive Standen (Vikings) in the role played in the films by Liam Neeson. The reboot series will feature a younger version of Neeson's character; in this case, Standen will play a CIA agent who doesn't yet have a daughter who can be kidnapped by bad guys.
NBC says that its committed to bringing Timeless back once the schedule permits, but there are no definite plans on the calendar yet.
