Naya Rivera Reduced to Recurring on 'Glee' But Not Quite Fired

Naya Rivera Reduced to Recurring on 'Glee' But Not Quite Fired Hope you guys weren't big Santana fans, because you're going to see a lot less of her on "Glee" next season.

Naya Rivera has been demoted from a series regular to recurring for the musical comedy's sixth and final season, set to start this fall on Fox. That means that Rivera will return to the show in some capacity, but will not be in every episode, or likely even close to every episode.

More intriguing is the rumor that Rivera herself asked for the new arrangement. That flies in the face of previous rumors that said that Rivera's future on the show was up in the air because of arguments with producers and co-star Lea Michele. In fact, it was believed for a while that Rivera had been outright fired when she was cut out of the season five finale.

That makes Rivera's reason for leaving even more intriguing: Was it true that her former fiancé, Big Sean, cheated on her with a co-star (most likely Lea Michele)? It's not like Rivera has a ton of jobs lined up outside of the show that are taking up her schedule.

It is not yet confirmed how many episodes Rivera will appear in for the final season. In fact, Fox might reduce the season from 22 episodes to a lower number, so there might not even be that many episodes at all.
