'MythBusters' Hosts Get All-New Competition Show

'MythBusters' Hosts Get All-New Competition Show Let's all find out together just what exactly happens when two mischief-making "MythBusters" aren't crafting the chaos, but instead merely overseeing and evaluating it.

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that The Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman will soon have an all-new gig: executive producing, hosting and judging Rube Goldberg-style contraptions on the competitive "Unchained Reaction."

Who or what is a "Rube Goldberg," you may ask? "Every play 'Mouse-Trap' as a kid?" we might ask back. Or we could just let the two Hollywood special-effects veterans themselves demonstrate in this classic Yuletide "MythBusters" machination.

It's a rare joy, seeing two gentlemen enjoy their job as much as these two do.

In the six-part series, Hyneman and Savage will oversee mechanism builds by two teams. The builders - each of varying disciplines and backgrounds including engineers, rocket scientists, artists and animatronic specialists - will race to build chain reactions that each achieve some desired effect or another in the most round-about of ways.

"Mechanical movements, pyrotechnics and large-scale destruction are encouraged," claims The Discovery Channel.

Hmm. "Large-scale destruction" - it could probably be safely assumed we're not talking cannonball-into-a-house in this instance.

When all is said and done, the duo and each week's guest judge will assess both the damage and the success and determine the top team. Of course, expect entertainment value to be a priority criterion.

"We wanted to craft a show that puts the process of problem-solving and ingenuity front and center, and we've done exactly that with 'Unchained Reaction'," Savage said.

"Unchained Reaction" premieres this March.
