A 'Jersey Shore' Commencement: How Much is a Speech From Snooki Worth? (Hint: A Lot)

If you want the best, you have to pay for the best. And "Jersey Shore" star Snooki is...the best Rutgers can do, I guess.

The New Jersey university hired Snooki to speak at this year's commencement, and the reality star obliged. During the speech, she inspired the young minds leaving Rutgers about the GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry) lifestyle, and left them gems of wisdom such as, "study hard, but party harder."

So how much was Snooki paid for her appearance? $32,000. That'll buy a lot of bronzer.

Here's the kicker: Nobel Prize-winning novelist Toni Morrison, who wrote Beloved and Song of Solomon, was also asked to speak at Rutgers. Her fee? $30,000. Yes, apparently Snooki is worth more a Nobel prize winner.

Just last year, Snooki caused an uproar when she was paid just $9,000 to speak at James Madison University. I wonder how the Rutgers student body is reacting to this one?

For the record, Toni Morrison was the first African-American woman to win the Nobel prize. Snooki can comb her hair into a poof and didn't go to college. That's the score, for anyone keeping track.
