MTV Sixth 'Jersey Shore' Season, Pregnant Snooki And All
by Sean ComerThough the surrounding communities keep telling producers they're decreasingly welcome near their homes and businesses, the good people of MTV's "Jersey Shore" are apparently going nowhere.
The network made it official Monday that the reality-TV hit will start filming its sixth season this coming summer, complete with a quite pregnant Snooki. Naturally, MTV's remarks about the returning cash cow informed us all just how much we love the vapid little jack-holes.
"America's favorite housemates will all return to their home-away-from-home, and the house dynamic is headed into uncharted territory . . . as their lives outside the 'Shore' take off in exciting new directions. While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same," the promotional piece reads, according to The Huffington Post.
One knocked-up Snooki presented only the most recent potential snag that's apparently been overcome.
Pauly D and the ditz-tastic JWoww-Snooki duo respectively have spin-offs in development, though Snooki's new arrival probably also threw a wrench into her plans alongside her BFF for a new show. Of course, even those plans were probably thrown into jeopardy by a community backlash against the "Jersey Shore" brand in general.
It took some time, but Hoboken, NJ city officials - most notably, Mayor Dawn Zimmer - finally took notice in February that MTV and 495 Productions have repeatedly filmed in public places around the city without a permit, denied a future filming permit and warned that the city would now have "zero tolerance" for further violations. Zimmer herself noted that local Health and Human Services personnel determined that the crowds that followed the show's filming created an "attractive nuisance" that detracted from the area's "quality of life."
"America's favorite housemates will all return to their home-away-from-home, and the house dynamic is headed into unchartered territory … as their lives outside the 'Shore' take off in exciting new directions. While things will definitely be a little different this time when they hit the boardwalk, their trademark hilarity and family dysfunction will remain the same," MTV said in a statement.
