More Unwise Tweets: Joss Whedon, Rob Schneider are Latest to Tweet Before They Think

These are tumultuous political times, and the tumult is causing some celebrities to spout off impulsively on social media. Donald Trump isn't the only person tweeting insults that are getting people riled up; this week The Avengers director Joss Whedon angered conservative critics by wishing harm upon House Speaker Paul Ryan.

On Saturday, Whedon sent out a tweet in which he wished for the death of Ryan via a particularly humiliating attack by a rhinoceros. Whedon went on to say that he made the wish not because it would solve anything, but because it would be funny.

The tweet went largely unnoticed by the mainstream, but commentators on the right were suddenly outraged that a celebrity would use Twitter to make inappropriate disparaging remarks about people with whom he disagrees.

Protestors on the other end of the political spectrum had their chance to be outraged, too, when Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo star Rob Schneider dumped a tweet that lectured Civil Rights icon John Lewis on the correct way to protest.
