Monday Shake-Up: 'We Are Men' is Out
by EGThe fall TV season, which began just a few weeks ago, is sorting itself out. That means that new series are settling into their niches, and, unfortunately, a few series are taking the heat for poor line-up performances on some nights. This week, the second casualty of the ratings war was revealed, as CBS pulled "We Are Men" from its Monday-night schedule.
The comedy starring Kal Penn, Jerry O'Connell, Chris Smith and Tony Shaloub hadn't turned in terrible ratings—it pulled in 5.4 million total viewers for its second episode—but it didn't hold enough of the audience from its lead-in, "How I Met Your Mother." Its weak audience retention seemed to be hurting the rest of the night's line-up, including new series "Mom" and "Hostages."
For the next few weeks, CBS will move "2 Broke Girls" to the slot formerly occupied by "Men" and put repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" in the "Girls" slot. In four weeks, "Mike & Molly" will return and slip into the 9 pm slot. The departure of "Men" will put pressure on "Mom," which has been doing slightly better than "Men," and "Hostages," which is consistently placing third in its 10 pm time slot.
