Episode 'Modern Family' Season, 2 Episode 14 - Bixby's Back Recap

Episode 'Modern Family' Season, 2 Episode 14 - Bixby's Back Recap Bixby's back, indeed.  After winning a SAG award for Best Comedy Ensemble, "Modern Family" was lookin' alive last night during its Valentine's Day episode.  And what better way to showcase the many facets of love than to bring back the suave, turtleneck-clad Clive Bixby.

Bixby is a fan of hotel bars, where he can find a good martini and an easy lady. "I'm usually pretty good at catching things from women in bars," says Bixby.  Alrighty.

While Clive tried his best to woo a mysterious stranger by the name of Juliana, he found himself in a rather compromising position when it was sexy time.  And during that comprosing position, all I could think was, "Please take off those black socks.  They make me very uncomfortable."

Across town, Cameron stopped by Mitchell's office to pick him up for their date to Ibiza (which may boast the best Blue Plate special in town, judging by the looks of their clientele).

Cameron was convinced that Mitchell's assistant, Broderick, had a thing for his boyfriend.  And by golly, Cameron was a little threatened by this.  Broderick blocked any tokens of love Cameron sent Mitchell's way, and it was high time Cameron told the little minion what's what.  Well, love in an elevator.  Broderick admitted it was Cameron he fancied.  Cameron. Was. Ecstactic.  Over the moon.  Not because he fancies Broderick back, but because it's lovely to be crushed on.

Gloria and Jay's storyline was funny in the beginning, but lost me due to boredom at the end.  I was amused that Gloria marched up to the restaurant host at Ibiza, saw Jay's last name on the reservation list, then seated herself without any hesitation.  Jay needed to get her the hell out of Ibiza and back to their home where he had a private chef prepare a delightfully romantic meal. And then, just as Jay was losing hope over their first glass of white wine, a "Big, gay angel" swooped in and stole back the table that was rightfully his.

Finally, the episode wrapped with the most teenage-dreamy scene: Dylan serenaded Haley with a song about being naked and in love and in lust and anything else inappropriately hormonal teens think about. Haley was hook, line and sinker as she jumped back in the arms of the man-boy she loves.  Claire and Phil/Clive would have sent Dylan home with a bar of soap sticking out of his mouth, but they were too busy being in love and lust and anything else inappropriately hormonal.

Love is a many splendored thing.  Even for Manny.  Don't worry, kid.  Someday your ship will come in.
