'Mobbed' Is a Success, Fox Orders Eight Episodes

'Mobbed' Is a Success, Fox Orders Eight Episodes Well that didn't take long.

Last night brought us the premiere of Fox's new Howie Mandel-hosted reality show "Mobbed," and it turned out to be a massive hit. The special episode opened to an audience of 10.8 million viewers. That even beat a new episode of "CSI" in the same time slot among adults aged 18-49.

The structure of the show is simple: somebody wants to surprise a friend, significant other or co-worker, so he or she enlists the help of a flash mob to put on an impromptu song and dance number at the big reveal.

The episode takes us through all of the planning stages, and the big mob moment is shown at the end of the episode, complete with the shocked expression of the "victim."

Last night's special followed a marriage proposal, which was a safe bet for a premiere. Who doesn't want to see a marriage proposal accompanied by a mob of a hundred people singing and dancing from out of nowhere? That's the kind of stuff YouTube hits are made of.

Since the show did so well it its mid-season special, Fox has ordered eight episodes. "Mobbed" is officially a new Fox series!
