'The Mindy Project' Season 3, Episode 3: 'Crimes & Misdemeanors & Ex-Boyfriends' Recap

Danny refuses to let Mindy leave anything at his place.

During a presentation, Mindy gets served. She hasn't paid taxes in six years. Everyone worries she is putting the practice at risk, as a lot of her stock is wrapped up in it. They tell her to hire a lawyer to take care of it and she remembers she already has... Cliff.

She goes to Cliff and asks him to help her, but he shoots her down. Finally she lies and says that Danny cheated on her and they broke up, which softens Cliff and he agrees to help.

She tells Danny what she did, and he isn't happy, but goes along with it. Mindy gets texts from Cliff asking for a "date" to go over the papers, and doesn't tell Danny.

Peter has a date with Lauren, who tells him she wants to put a pin in them. He is heartbroken. He calls her office later and pretends to be Jeremy and finds out that the two had a lunch date. Peter calls the INS on Jeremy. However he has regrets when he finds out that Lauren also suggested putting a pin in it to Jeremy.

Cliff almost catches Mindy and Danny holding hands in the elevator. She lies to Danny and says she is going to the gym when she goes to meet Cliff. When she defends Danny from his remarks, Cliff asks if she knows that Danny is still married. Mindy goes to Danny's, furious, and confronts him about it. She storms out.

Danny goes to see Cliff, who had a feeling this was all a big lie in the first place. Cliff says he'll finalize Danny's divorce for one thing - the seat from Yankee Stadium that Danny treasures. They go to Danny's to sign the final papers, and Cliff notes that there is nothing of Mindy's there. He takes the chair and goes to burn it (a Red Sox fan).

Lauren rushes to the office, having heard that Jeremy was getting deported, and the two make up.

Danny buys Mindy a little dresser for her stuff after telling her he is now officially divorced.
