'The Mindy Project' Season 3, Episode 2:'Annette Castellano is My Nemesis' Recap

Danny's mom bursts into the apartment unexpectedly while Mindy is making breakfast. She is friendly and invites Mindy to Staten Island. When Danny hustles her out, he admits to Mindy that Annette thinks she is the cleaning lady. He hasn't told her about Mindy yet because she is a very difficult woman.

Mindy assures him she has a 4-point plan to win over mothers, and she'll be fine.

Peter goes into the bathroom and runs into Morgan, who is sitting to pee. Peter, still fuming over the Lauren incident, tells Morgan that Tamra has him whipped.

Annette comes to visit Danny at work, and Danny introduces her to Mindy. Annette talks about her birthday the next day and invites Mindy to brunch, but Mindy has a C-section scheduled.

She gets Peter to cover it and pops in at brunch. Annette isn't happy to see her, having just been polite, but Mindy enacts her plan.

Step 1 - compliments.

Step 2 - find common ground.

Step 3 - come bearing gifts (and don't forget about Mom's friend).

Step 4 - agree with everything she says. No matter how bad.

It works, and she has Annette on her side.

Morgan has a dog fair to get rid of his dogs, because Tamra has developed allergies to them. Peter is furious, watching Morgan go through the heartbreak. He grabs a dog and throws it at Tamra, who has a serious allergy attack and has to be saved by Morgan with an epi-pen. She yells at Peter for taking his issues with women out on everyone, and tells Morgan he can keep his dogs, she just won't go to his place. Morgan gives Peter one of his dogs, thinking he needs a strong female influence.

At brunch, Danny gives Annette his gift - a brand new stove. She is not thrilled about it, but delighted by a stuffed bear from Richie. Mindy breaks her rules and defends Danny, which sends Annette off in a huff. Mindy tries to call her later but hears on the voicemail that Annette is back to working in hotels so as not to be a burden on Danny, who pays all her bills.

Mindy goes and finds her on the floor of a hotel, her hip having popped out. They wrestle and Mindy forces her hip back in place, and then cleans the room. She scolds Annette for being so hard on Danny, but Annette thinks he can handle it because he's tough and takes care of himself. Mindy tells her everyone wants to be taken care of a little.

Annette has them both over for dinner and compliments the new stove, making Danny very happy. Annette's good feelings toward Mindy fade, however, when she catches the two fooling around in Danny's old room.
