'The Mindy Project' Season 3, Episode 19: 'Confessions of a Catho-holic' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanWhile Danny is confessing his sins to his (very old) priest, the priest dies.
Danny is certain his wickedness has killed the priest. Worse, the new priest is someone Danny went to school with - a reformed bad boy, Father Michael is determined to bring a stricter rule to his church.
This makes Danny nervous; he even considers changing churches. HIs mother suggests it's not the priest, and that Danny should consider why he feels so guilty. Eager to impress Father Michael, Danny ends up lying and saying that Mindy is Catholic, and that the two live together, true, but are waiting until marriage. He fails to mention she is pregnant with his son (it's a boy, y'all!).
Mindy is also worried about the situation. Jeremy suggests she befriend Father Michael to get on his good side. She texts him and invites him to dinner - and how can he resist dinner from a good Catholic woman?
Mindy has the brainwave of texting Morgan throughout dinner to help her with the ruse. Unfortunately this distracts Morgan from helping Jeremy, who is performing a one-man show but needs Morgan to help him remember all the lines.
There is a close call when Mindy remembers all the condoms in the bathroom, but sneaks in while the priest is peeing and manages to hide them.
Luckily Mindy has managed to win Father Michael to her cause. Danny lies and says the woman he was rumored to be living in sin with was his ex, and he wasn't serious about her anyway. Mindy takes that to heart and goes to bed. Father Michael sees Danny's sonogram screensaver, and Danny finally confesses. He admits he doesn't feel guilty about it, and that is why he didn't confess. He doesn't see his family as a sin.
Mindy overhears and is touched. She tells Danny and Father Michael that she wants to baptize the baby Catholic, and Father Michael withdraws his threats to excommunicate Danny.
