'The Mindy Project' Season 3, Episode 15: 'Dinner at the Castellano's' Recap

There seems to be no right time to tell Danny that Mindy is pregnant.

Mindy settles on flying home to have a romantic weekend with him, planning to drop the news, but finds his father and sister there, Alan and Little Danny. LD has gotten in trouble at school, and Alan has brought her to Danny to be set straight.

Mindy gets a call from Annette, and spills the beans about their visitors. Annette decides to be the big person and invites them all over for dinner. Danny is horrified. He tells Mindy not to go - it will be awful, and only for "family." Mindy is crushed he doesn't consider her family.

She calls Peter for advice, and he recommends she go to the dinner.

Annette is thrilled to be snotty to Alan, and rub her doctor boyfriend in his face. Mindy keeps trying to push herself into the family traditions. She ends up accidentally volunteering to slaughter the eels. She manages to do it, impressing Annette.

In the other room, Alan has found his old trains and is letting Danny play with them - they were off-limits for his childhood. Alan asks Danny if he will take in LD for a little while. Danny agrees.

Mindy is furious she has not been consulted. Over dinner, Mindy accuses LD of fabricating her emotional problems for attention and to get out of school. After threatening to dump LD's phone in water, she admits that she just hates living in the desert with her old dad. Then she slaps Mindy, who slaps her back.

Danny pulls her away, and agrees that she should leave. Again he calls it a "family matter." However when Annette finds out what Danny agreed to, she sides with Mindy, and goes after her.

She wants Mindy to come back, and thinks she did the right thing. She's also suspicious that Mindy may be pregnant. She goes back inside and gives Alan the expected tongue-lashing, particularly flaying him for expecting Danny, who raised his little brother, to now raise his sister too. Then she turns to Danny, for tossing out his pregnant girlfriend.

He goes after Mindy, but she has disappeared, and isn't answering her phone.

He looks everywhere, and finally finds her at the office. He tells her they are a family.
