'The Mindy Project' Season 2, Episode 22: 'Danny and Mindy' Recap

Mindy smiles at a cute guy on the subway. Peter and Danny tease her.

Later in the missed connections sections in the newspaper, she finds he is trying to find her. Danny makes her promise she won't try to e-mail him but she does anyway. She gets a response from Andy, and she's thrilled.

However she's dating Charlie. Everyone reminds her she's getting into tricky territory.

Andy wants to meet in person... except that Andy is actually Danny. Morgan discovers this when he sends Andy an angry e-mail warning him not to hurt Mindy, and Danny's computer announces it has mail.

Peter is carrying around a watermelon to try to practice for Lauren's baby. Mindy mentions she is having dinner with Charlie, and so Danny/Andy e-mails her trying to find out if she'll meet him for dinner. She admits she is seeing someone but won't say boyfriend. He takes that as a good sign.

Morgan confronts Danny. Danny admits that he dated Mindy and is trying to get her back. Morgan will only keep quiet if Danny will talk to Tamra for him. He goes and apologizes to Tamra, but she tells him she and Morgan are still hooking up. It was just funny to make him apologize.

They discuss what Danny should do, and Tamra suggests the Empire State Building romantic cliche.

Mindy goes to dinner with Charlie, and before she has a chance to explain what's happening, Charlie tells her he read her phone and knows what's going on. He doesn't want to stand in the way of anything.

Danny dresses to meet Mindy and she calls him to help her get gum out of her hair, forcing him to quickly get out of his suit. He tries to hustle her out, but she decides to linger. As he dresses back up in the closet, she tells him that breaking up was the right thing to do, and that it really sank in for her when he said that guys don't break up with girls they want to be with.

She leaves and goes to the Empire State Building. She waits and waits but "Andy" never shows. It rains.

At work, Mindy isn't there. Danny asks about it and Morgan and Tamra, furious, tell him she got stood up and is sick from standing in the rain. Danny goes to bring her some soup. He tries to tell her the truth but she interrupts to say she was wrong with Andy and should have hung out with him instead. He stops talking and stays and watches a movie with her.

When she's feeling better, the two go wander around New York and have a beautiful time together as Danny works to win her back. However on the subway, Mindy sees "Andy," and attacks him. Danny has to tell her he was Andy. She's enraged and hides in the bathroom at work. He follows her in and tells her he loves her, but she says he only loves her until he doesn't. He says he'll wait at the top of the Empire State Building for her but she has plans to "not be the stupidest person in the world" that night.

At nine p.m., all of her co-workers tell her that Danny loves her and she needs to go meet him. Peter drags her into Danny's office and shows her a box he found of things he loves, including Mindy's earrings. Peter says he's seen him staring at them.

Mindy goes to the building but the elevators are out. She takes the stairs.

As everyone is walking along congratulating themselves, they see Danny in a restaurant eating a slice. He says he was there for an hour and she didn't show. They tell him she's on her way up there and Danny takes off running. He gets hit by a taxi. Mindy is struggling to make it up the stairs, and Danny limps back to the building. He takes the now-working elevators to the top but she's not yet made it up there.

He hears wheezing, and sees Mindy on the ground trying to catch her breath. He tells her he loves her and wants to go all in. They kiss.
