'The Mindy Project' Season 1, Episode 11: 'Bunk Bed' Recap

'The Mindy Project' Season 1, Episode 11: 'Bunk Bed' Recap Mindy is on a date, and going off on tangents as usual. She and her date are on a horse drawn carriage ride through the streets. Everything is perfect until the horse drops. Her date reminds her she’s doctor.

“I’m a gynecologist, Evan! Why don’t you web design him back to life?”

The police officers show up, and euthanize the horse. Mindy tells her date maybe he can call her… in a few months.

The team comes in… on Saturday. Danny is taking on more patients on the weekends. He brought them breakfast to make it up to them. Shredded wheat.

Mindy gets to have a nice breakfast with Gwen and her daughter, however. She invites them to stay with her in the city while Gwen’s husband is out of town. Riley demands a bunk bed.

Shawna and Betsy are more concerned with Facebook than answering the phones on a Saturday.

“I mean this isn’t the 1900’s where you can just oppress your workers until they get Cholera to death.”

Shawna and Betsy go off to find magazines, but all the good ones are missing.

Mindy calls Morgan, and asks him to come help her build a bunk bed. He goes to assist. Danny gets annoyed when no one seems to know where Morgan is. Danny shows up at Mindy’s to take Morgan back. He sends him out. Danny offers to help put the bunk bed together before his next patient. He gets the directions and rips them up.

Danny asks about their weekend. She gets her itinerary. None of it is especially good for a seven-year-old, however Mindy planned on leaving her at the apartment anyway.

Shawna and Betsy find their “People” magazine in Danny’s drawer. They also find a letter to his ex-wife, Christina. They read it.

Danny completes the bunk bed. Danny asks for a sandwich, but Mindy only has tequila. Gwen and Riley show up. While Gwen is inspecting the bottom bunk, the top falls on her.

Shawna and Betsy are getting deep into the letter, which talks about how he misses Christina’s naked body, and the shame he felt when he saw her in bed with another man. Morgan has shown up and wants them to stop—too sad. It goes on to say that he will never fall in love again.

Gwen has fractured her arm. Danny goes to take her to the hospital, and he tells Mindy to take care of Riley. Mindy lacks the maternal instinct.

In the cab, Gwen is cracked out on Vicodin. She asks him which one is he—the British one, the old guy, or the handsome jerk.

Mindy is trying to entertain Riley, but she settles on the television instead, and a boring documentary. Riley runs off to Mindy’s room.

Danny gets Gwen to the hospital and hustles her off. An attractive woman with an eye patch in the waiting room takes him to task for cutting the line.

Mindy goes to tell Riley a story about her mother. She tells her she and Gwen weren’t good friends at first either, because they liked the same guy, but when he broke his leg, the two became great friends. She says she and Riley can become great friends too.

Eye patch lady tells Danny she was jogging in Central Park and a pigeon flew into her eye. Danny takes a look. He tells her she’ll be ok, he’ll prescribe her some drops. He is interrupted by loving texts from his employees.

Morgan paces around. He finally tells Shawna and Betsy he mailed the letter to Christina. He has regrets, and tries to retrieve the letter from the box.

Gwen is back, and all the girls pile into Mindy’s bed. Mindy has a new itinerary, that Riley helped with, and involves a lot of koalas. Riley falls asleep and they sneak off to have a drink.

Morgan tells Danny there is a “mailer” in the office, a crazy person who mails unsent mail. He asks Danny if he wants to get set up with someone, and he hugs him.

“I’m doing what she couldn’t!”

Morgan tells him not to give up on love.
