'Mike & Molly' Season 3, Episode 21: 'Molly's Out of Town' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanMolly is preparing to leave for an out-of-town teacher conference. Mike worries about what he will do without her for three days. She prepares him healthy meals and makes him promise to be good.
He misses her when she goes. Carl suggests he take this time to reconnect with him. Carl wants to go out for a beer and rekindle their friendship.
Vince is in the basement, drying his car mats. Mike moons over Molly but Vince disgraces him for not enjoying his wife being gone and reveling in his freedom. Mike admits he could go to a movie… but it may be too hard to be alone.
Mike goes out to be Carl’s wingman. Carl wants him to pretend his wife is dead. Christina’s ex/current husband is in the bar. Carl goes to talk to him, thinking he and Christina split. They did not… she is pregnant and waiting in the car. News for Carl.
Mike waits for a reaction, but Carl insists he is happy for her. Until they get in car. He mopes. Mike takes the very depressed Carl home.
At home, Joyce is on a spring cleaning rampage. Mike comes home and Joyce makes him and Vince go on the roof to clean the gutters. Carl comes over and goes to hug Mike goodbye—he’s determined to take off and start a new life. Samuel comes over to check on him/make sure he’s going to pay rent. The boys all talk and have a beer on the roof.
They keep drinking and get drunk and nostalgic.
Carl’s grandma comes looking for him, and climbs up. Carl left a message on her machine that he was leaving town. They go down and talk. She tells him that her husband left her… Carl is surprised, because she had told him he died. She admits she was humiliated, just like he is. But, Carl came into her life, and she was happy again.
Molly will be home shortly—he forces Victoria to eat the prepared meals quickly so she doesn’t know he cheated on the diet.
