'Mike & Molly' Recap, Season 4, Episode 4: 'Careful What You Dig For'

'Mike & Molly' Recap, Season 4, Episode 4: 'Careful What You Dig For' Molly takes Mike grocery shopping with her. While at the store, she spots an author of one of her favorite books (played by Susan Sarandon). She approaches her, and asks for writing advice, but is rebuffed.

While on patrol, Mike goes to check on his mother with Carl. One of her bingo companions died, and he wants to check on Peggy. They find her dark and morose, having been told by the dying woman "you're next," and Mike invites her to come to dinner at his house.

Molly follows the author back to her home and tries to leave her manuscript on her door, but is discovered. She begs for advice and a reading, so she will know if she is wasting her time trying to be a writer. She bribes the author with liquor and gets invited in.

Worried over his grandma by Mike's exchange with Peggy, Carl goes to check on her, and finds her having a huge party.

The author, Janice Corb Small, reads Molly's manuscript and gushes over it. Molly realizes she's just being rushed out of the door, and the author admits the writing is terrible. She says she hasn't lived the words. She asks about Molly's childhood and tells her to use all of those terrible stories.

Molly goes home and asks Joyce more about her childhood, finding plenty of fodder. In a tizzy, she wonders if everything has always been a lie, and if she is even allergic to mushrooms like she was told. She tries one - yes, that one was correct.

Over family dinner, Molly sharpens her tongue on Joyce, and a food fight ensues. Peggy is kicked out of her depression by the excitment.

Molly returns to Janice, upset, and is told alcohol is her new family. Janice gets seductive and kisses Molly.

Molly flees.
