'Mike & Molly' Recap, Season 4, Episode 17: 'McMillan and Mom'

'Mike & Molly' Recap, Season 4, Episode 17: 'McMillan and Mom' Mike and Carl have busted a gun-running "gang" of two, and are writing up the report. Carl gets a call, apparently from his mother, but his mother is dead. Carl takes the phone and speaks with her, confused.

She is in a hospital in Memphis, sick, and seems convincing. Carl has always been told by his grandmother that his mother was dead, so he's not sure what to think.

At home Molly speculates on what may have happened. Carl shows up, drunk. He says his grandmother lied, and his mother is actually alive. He wants to go to Memphis right then but Mike knocks him down and they tuck him in on the couch.

His grandmother comes over in the morning and speaks with Mike and Molly. She says that Carl's mother abandoned him with her and ran around having a good time. Carl wakes up and comes in, sobered, and is still determined to go see his mother. Molly suggests that Mike go with him. Samuel goes with as well, and the three head to Memphis.

Carl's Nana admits that she was a terrible mother to her daughter, and raised her wrong. She tried to make up for that with Carl, but she's the true reason Carl's mother was so reckless and irresponsible.

Carl gets to the hospital and asks to see his mother... but finds out she passed away, only an hour ago.

On the way home, he has the conversation with Mike that he had planned to have with his mother, about how he has been growing up. Mike tells him the only reason that she would have called would be to apologize.

The guys offer to help with the funeral arrangements.
