'Mike and Molly' Recap, Season 4, Episode 1: 'Molly Unleashed'
by Shannon KeirnanMolly doles out standardized tests to her students. She has a sudden moment, realizing where her path in life has gotten her. Nowhere, for all of her promise she had growing up. Panicked, she jumps out the window and yells to her students to follow their dreams.
Mike and Carl get the call, and find Molly walking down the streets in the rain.
Mike puts Molly to bed, and talks with Joyce and Victoria. Joyce admits that there is a history of mental illness in their family.
Nervous, Mike brings Molly some soup. She's huddled in bed, hiding under the covers. She tells him she was feeling overwhelmed, and leaving felt like the right thing to do at the time. He tells her he'll support her no matter what she decides.
Molly meets the school board with her appointed lawyer. As he talks about her career, a decade of low pay and no respect, Molly is horrified. She whispers to him that she doesn't want to teach anymore. She tells the board that the kids deserve someone who wants to be there for them. She walks out again.
Molly decides to go out for a drink, but tells Mike to stay home. She brings her mother and sister along for some hardcore drinking. She tells them she's mad at herself. She's a fraud and a phony. She's not following her true passion: musical theater.
Mike's mom goes to visit him, bringing him food. She's heard about Molly cracking.
Drunk now, Molly gets knocked a few times by a rude woman. There's a confrontation. Molly ends up punching her.
She goes home and bandages her hand. She tells Mike she fell and scraped her knuckles. He takes care of her, and she apologizes for... everything. Including not being able to get pregnant.
In bed, Molly speculates what she's going to do with her life. She thinks about opening a business and becoming filthy rich. As the lights go out, she realizes what she has done and flips out.
