Who Might Gloria Estefan Be Playing On 'Glee?'

Who Might Gloria Estefan Be Playing On 'Glee?' January's Latin flavor on "Glee" is about to scoot further off-the-charts.

It's already been reported that talks are underway with Grammy-winning Latin pop icon Ricky Martin to join the cast in January as what TVLine described as "the hottest Spanish teacher ever in the history of Ohio."

More recently, reports from Entertainment Weekly have emerged that if fellow Grammy-winner and Miami Sound Machine co-founder Gloria Estefan also joins up around the same time as planned, she may be playing Santana's (Naya Rivera) mother, with a thing or two to say about Santana's self-discovery regarding her sexual orientation.

In fact, word is that she may make her debut in the same January episode as Martin.

The "Glee" audience on Tuesday night got acquainted with Santana's grandmother, and learned that she doesn't think highly at all of her granddaughter's same-sex relationship with Brittany (Heather Morris.) We've heard nothing yet from Santana's folks themselves, though she's claimed already that they support her living as an outed lesbian.

As with the rumors circulating about Martin's appearance, there's a possibility that the episode will showcase some of Estefan's signature songs. It could be an interesting past-meets-more-recent-past blend if the episode also includes Martin performing a few of his own hits, as has been rumored.

One source says that members of the "Glee" cast are "really, really big fans of hers and we love her music and her husband's music."
