Michael Strahan's 'Good Morning America' Appearance Leads to Attempted Murder

Michael Strahan's 'Good Morning America' Appearance Leads to Attempted Murder Scary!

On Tuesday, Michael Strahan found himself fearing for his life (after the fact) when a homeless man threatened to kill him, NYPD officials have confirmed.

The incident happened at Times Square studio, where Strahan was making an appearance as a part-time co-host on "Good Morning America."

25-year-old Andre Johnson showed up at 8 a.m., when the cast goes outside to interact with the audience.

Police say that Johnson got into an argument with security, finally  pulling a knife and saying that he was there to kill Strahan. He then tried to stab a security guard with the blade.

A police officer working security "heroically tackled" the homeless man and knocked the serrated knife from his hand, said a rep for ABC News.

"It was a scary situation but thanks to the fast action of the NYPD the situation was quickly under control," the rep added. So quickly, in fact, that many onlookers and audience members eager to get a glimpse of "GMA" filming didn't even realize what had happened.

Johnson, who has a number of out-of-state warrants, is being held without bail and charged with felony attempted assault and menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.

"I was there to kill Michael Strahan," he reportedly told officers when he was arrested and brought to the Midtown South stationhouse.

Strahan, who also makes hosting appearances on "Live! with Kelly and Michael" says he did not see Johnson's attempted attack, and was not at all hurt... though we're bet he was a little shaken on hearing the news.
