Michael Jackson's Doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, Denied Bail

A judge Friday denied the late Michael Jackson's former physician Dr. Conrad Murray a release on bail as Murray prepares his appeal of a 2011 involuntary manslaughter conviction, reports Yahoo! blog OMG!.

Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor deemed Murray a flight risk and said he believed the doctor posed a health risk should he resume practicing medicine. The 59-year-old Murray, who was not present at the hearing, has been in the Los Angeles Jail's solitary confinement awaiting his appeal since his conviction.

His attorneys had recommended release on his own recognizance with an electronic monitoring bracelet.

A jury convicted Murray Nov. 7, 2011 of involuntary manslaughter for his role in Jackson's death at the King of Pop's home following an apparent accidental drug overdose. Murray previously stated, in a documentary interview that Pastor quoted Friday morning, that he believed that giving Jackson the anesthetic propofol in Jackson's home to help him sleep would be permissable.

The four-year sentence he received was the maximum allowed. However, under current sentencing guidelines that credit for time-served and more time possibly taken off by the state of California for good behavior, Murray will more than likely serve about two years behind bars.

It's also expected that he'll eventually pay restitution as part of his sentence.
