Melissa McCarthy Definitely Won't Be in Gilmore Girls Revival
by EG
We might have simple miscommunication to blame for Melissa McCarthy's absence from the upcoming Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls. It seems that if someone had actually asked her to come back, she might have been able to participate in the project.
In an interview with E!, McCarthy explained that her exclusion from the show had to do with scheduling, miscommunication and bad timing.
"I didn't actually get asked to do it," she said. "But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."
McCarthy's absence is a disappointment for fans, especially since just about every other cast member from the original WB/CW series will be returning for the revival on Netflix. The exact format of the revival is still something of a mystery, but it's likely to take the form of four feature-length episodes rather than the 10-13-episode packages that are typical of Netflix originals.
Even if McCarthy is not involved with the revival, she's still happy that it's happening, and she doesn't rule out being involved with future Gilmore Girls projects, should they happen.
"That was seven years of my life and it was really great. I was proud of that show," she said.
