Melanie Griffth Nears 'Raising Hope' Role
by Sean ComerSock away your "Milk Money" to pay the "Working Girl": Melanie Griffith coming to Fox's "Raising Hope" looks to be nearly a done deal.
Mind, in casting terms, that means nothing is a "done deal" until it's one Stevie-Wonder, signed, sealed, delivered done deal. But to hear E! Online tell it today, the potential future ex-Mrs. Antonio Banderas and her representatives are but crossing t's and dotting i's to cast her in the Emmy-nominated comedy's third season.
What's more, it's no one-and-done part, either. In fact, she'd be signing up to fill a multi-episode arc as the mother of Sabrina (Amanda Woodward.) Other than that, there's precious little known about the story's particulars. Still, maybe that's enough to speculate. It is known that Sabrina comes from money. Maybe it's an arc foretelling how a certain socio-economic gap between Jimmy (Lucas Neff) and Sabrina will play upon the pair's burgeoning feelings?
Fox has declined to comment officially, unsurprisingly. Meanwhile, Griffith most recently graced the stage in the play "No Way Around But Through."
This possible casting, though....c'est magnifique! Griffith is one of the last with that classic blonde-bombshell charisma, with the fitting figure to suit it. Typecasting can be treated as a performer's death sentence, but it is what it is, and sometimes it's just that simplest solution that sometimes pans out to be the correct one.
