Meet the New Bachelorette Ashley Hebert, Watch Her Be Sworn In By Jimmy Kimmel (VIDEO) Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Bachelorette! Ashley Hebert, who placed third on this season of "The Bachelor" (which just wrapped up last night with Brad Womack choosing his lucky lady) will be starring in the new season as she looks for love.

Why is ABC going with the third runner-up? Well, an inside source reports that second-place finisher Chantal was offered the spot, but turned it down as she already has a new boyfriend.

Jimmy Kimmel made the announcement last night on his show, following the season finale of "The Bachelor." Kimmel brought Hebert out and told her that she needed to be "sworn in" on a People Magazine issue before it was official.

"Do you promise, on national television, to date 25 men simultaneously without complaining?" asked Kimmel.

"Yes, I promise," responded Hebert.

Kimmel followed up with increasingly silly promises, including: "Do you promise not to fall in love with a guy who cries on a date, unless he's being stung by bees?"

"You're driving me a tough bargain here," said Hebert, but she eventually agreed.

Hebert is a 26-year-old dental student who is taking time off from her studies at the University of Pennsylvania to appear on the reality show. She originally hails from Madawaska, Maine, where she was a dance instructor.

Oh, and an important note for water cooler talk: her last name is pronounced "Eh-Bear"...the "h" is silent.
