Mean Girls star Lindsay Lohan accused of battery at Betty Ford Clinic

Lindsay Lohan Accused of BatteryLindsay Lohan, star of the teen movie Mean Girls, may only be twenty four years of age, but has gone through her fair share of celebrity controversy and trouble, much of it related to drinking and drugs.

Lohan has now hit the headlines again, after being accused of battery.

Earlier this year Lindsay, who also starred in movies such as Freaky Friday and Herbie: Fully Loaded, was ordered back to rehab, and checked into the Betty Ford Clinic on a live-in basis. However, police were called to the clinic earlier this month after an incident occurred when Lohan was approached by staff after coming back late.

It is claimed that Lohan attacked a member of staff during the incident, and is now under investigation as a result of what is said to have happened. The victim of the attack desired prosecution according to the Riverside County Deputy Sheriff Herlinda Valenzuela.

Lohan is said to have pushed the staff member and then pinched her phone after staff tried to get her to do a breathalyzer test.

However, the staff member has also been sacked from the clinic for breaking patient confidentiality after speaking to media about the incident. An official from the clinic said: ‘When patients come to the center for treatment, they come to a safe place where their identity is protected. Confidentiality and trust are key to the treatment and recovery process.’

Lohan is set to be released from the clinic next month. However, the investigation will now continue in order to determine what happened during the incident.

TMZ has just learned that Lindsay Lohan will not be reprimanded by the probation department unless she is criminally charged in the attack.

If Lindsay does get in trouble for violating her probation, she will be sent back to the pokey for 6 months.  Seems 6 months behind bars might be exactly what Lindsay needs.
