McDonald's Super Bowl Ad Promises Free Food for Hugs and Stuff
by Andy Neuenschwander
McDonald's gets a lot of hate. In an effort to turn that around, they're going to start bribing you into loving them.
The fast food chain's Super Bowl ad is now online, and it reveals a unique promotion: Starting in February, randomly selected customers who go into a McDonald's restaurant will be given the opportunity to "show some lovin'" and get an item on the McDonald's menu for free.
The ad features customers calling their mothers to say "I love you," giving a fist bump to the workers behind the counter, saying something nice to their kids or even dancing for free food.
The promotion is in part due to the approach of Valentine's Day (the promotion runs from Feb. 2nd to Feb. 14th) but is also part of McDonald's new ad campaign, which spins off the "I'm Lovin' It" slogan and has focused heavily on the "love" part.
Other facets of the ad campaign urge people to learn the truth about McDonald's food, and feature "haters" of the restaurant asking questions about their food quality.
