Mariah Carey Being Considered for Full-Time 'X Factor' Role

"The Voice" has Christina. "American Idol" has J.Lo (maybe). So it follows that "The X Factor" needs a diva as well, doesn't it?

From the sound of things, they might get one of the biggest divas to ever hit the music scene: Mariah Carey. The pop singer has been rumored to be joining "The X Factor" in some capacity for some time now, but recently it seems like that role could be changing.

How so? Well, Cowell gave EW a bit of a tip: "I think Mariah will have a role on the TV live shows," said the former "American Idol" judge and "The X Factor" producer. "I met her recently and she was on great form. And her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with."

So it seems as though Mariah might be on in more of a mentor capacity than a judging one...in other words, she'll be on the side of the contestants, making sure the judges are fair in their critiques.

It's not a bad idea, especially when the "Idol" judges did a little bit of playing favorites last year, picking only on Haley Reinhart from the top four down. Yeah, I'm still mad about the all-country finale. What of it?

The role that Carey will take is still up in the air, but one thing is certain: there are going to be a lot of divas on TV this season. Let's hope they all try to out-diva each other until some kind of catastrophic event happens.
