Are you watching "Marco Polo" on Netflix? If so, you're about to get a lot more of it.
The streaming service has announced that it will be renewing "Marco Polo" for a second season, giving it an order of an additional 10 episodes. Production will begin on season two later this year.
Netflix doesn't provide specific numbers on how many people are watching their original programming, so it's difficult to say if the show's performance is what made Netflix give it the go-ahead for a second season. The show received middling reviews when it premiered, with some appreciating the scope and look of the show, while others considered it to be narratively sluggish and boring.
Netflix has given almost every original show that it has picked up a renewal, however it has also had a great track record thus far. Shows like "House of Cards" and "Orange is the New Black" have been wildly popular, while even the lesser-known shows like "BoJack Horseman" and "Lilyhammer" have cult followings and a good response from critics.
With Netflix' slate of Marvel shows also premiering this year, including "Daredevil" which has just been announced for an April release, the streaming service is set for a big year in terms of viewers and subscribers.
