Mamma Mia! (2008) Movie Review

Mamma Mia! MovieWho knew James Bond could sing? Pierce Brosnan actually sings in Mamma Mia! along with an all-star cast including Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, and Christine Baranski. While I was aware all the others sang, and some quite marvelously at that, I never had heard 007 let out a note. It was charming. Now, he was good, not great. And next to Amanda Seyfried or Christine Baranski he looked like an amateur. But it was sweet and fun to watch.

The ABBA fest is good fun to watch and makes you want to get up and dance by the end. The storyline is simple, a girl about to get married wants her father at her wedding but she doesn't know who that is. After going through her mother's things she narrows it down to three possibilies. She invites them all to the island and much to her (and her mother's) surprise all three men show up. Then she must try to figure out which man is really her dad in order to choose the one to walk her down the aisle.

It's a comedy and romance fun fest where everyone kicks up their feet in song and just lets out their emotions. Watching this film really makes me wish I could sing. Like actually hit a note! It's a great remake of the stage show and deserves lots of credit to the entire cast and crew for pulling it off. Good old Meryl Streep is her normal incredible self but young Amanda Seyfried does her work in upstaging the multiple Academy Award winner. That young lady has a bright future ahead of her.
