Madonna and Cirque Du Soleil Performing at Super Bowl Halftime

Madonna and Cirque Du Soleil Performing at Super Bowl Halftime While there's no telling who will end up in Indianapolis on February 5th playing for the Super Bowl (there's conceivably a chance the undefeated Packers could get abducted by aliens after all), we can tell you all about the halftime show. Madonna will be providing this year's usual overblown spectacle, complete with dancers from Cirque Du Soleil.

Madonna announced the release via her website, saying:

"We are happy to confirm that Madonna will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sunday, February 5, as announced during tonight's game on NBC! The Material Girl has partnered with a creative team from Cirque du Soleil, Jamie King, and multimedia artists from Moment Factory, to create a signature performance for the Super Bowl's Halftime Show, which will be broadcast worldwide."

Madonna's performance is tied into the upcoming release of her new single "Give Me All Your Love," and the upcoming spring release of her new as-of-yet-untitled studio album.

While it's nearly impossible that Madonna could match the mind-boggling performance of Prince in Super Bowl XLI (Purple Rain! In the rain! With that guitar!), she can certainly do better than the confusing and jumbled performance of the Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash (?) at Cowboys Stadium last year.

Plus, with Madonna's taste for the shocking and dramatic, and the virtually guaranteed flawless execution of the Cirque Du Soleil dancers to help balance out some of the Material Girl's fading lustre, it's certain to be a memorable performance at the very least.
