Lupita Nyong'o, 'Game of Thrones' Actress Cast in 'Star Wars Episode VII'

Casting news from "Star Wars: Episode VII" is circulating today, as two more actors have been added to the growing cast list. The two lucky additions are Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, and "Game of Thrones" star Gwendolyn Christie.
Nyong'o had a breakout performance in last year's "12 Years a Slave" as the tortured Patsey, earning herself a string of award wins that culminated in an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Nyong'o also appeared in the recent thriller "Non-Stop," and is set to voice a character in the reboot of "The Jungle Book."
Christie is best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in "Game of Thrones," the lady-turned-sort-of-knight who is currently on a quest to secure the remaining Stark girls, Arya and Sansa. Christie was also recently revealed to be a cast member of the upcoming "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" which is due out in November.
The two announcements come a couple months after the original casting announcement, which revealed that the actors from the original series (Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, etc.) would be joined by a younger generation of actors, such as John Boyega, Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac.
That original announcement had many up in arms about the lack of female cast members: With the exception of Fisher, all of the announced additions were male. However, with the addition of Christie and Nyong'o, those who were concerned should have their fears allayed for now. You can bet that Nyong'o in particular would not have been brought on without a significant role to fill.
