Will 'Louie' Return for Another Season on FX?
by EG
Comedian Louis C.K. is used to doing this his own way, no matter what anyone else thinks he should do, and that could be bad news for his critically acclaimed FX series, Louie. The series is currently on hiatus after five seasons, and chances are that it won't be back, at least not in the form that it's previously taken on.
C.K. has said that he doesn't think he has any stories left for the character he plays in the series, a divorced father of two young girls living on his own in New York City and making a living as a stand-up comedian. The unusual series has never featured a coherent, consistent plot, but apparently C.K. has little enthusiasm for even short vignettes featuring the autobiographical character. The lack of enthusiasm has surfaced before, as C.K. took a two-year-long break between seasons three and four of the series,
If C.K. walks away from Louie, he'll be setting aside the biggest TV project he has going at the moment. His independently produced web series, Horace and Pete, was lauded by critics but was reportedly disappointing in terms of viewership; C.K. is characteristically ambiguous about if and when he'll work on that series again.
C.K.'s stand-up career is still going strong, though. He will begin a spring tour next week, and he will tour more widely in the United States and Europe over the summer and fall.
