'Lone Ranger' Trailer: The Matrix, Old West Style

You can probably thank "The Matrix" for this latest look at "The Lone Ranger." Slow-mo and dark filters have never really been a big part of previous versions of the western hero's adventures.

But here they are, making this new trailer for Disney's new take on the hero look more like "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" than "High Noon."

Interestingly, the trailer seems to focus more on the bad guys than the Lone Ranger (played by Armie Hammer), as the trailer begins with a big speech about trains and the power that comes with them. Looks like the rail lines will be the focus of the movie, much like they are in "Hell on Wheels."

Even when we do see our dynamic duo, we get a lot more of Johnny Depp's Tonto than we do of Hammers' John Reid. In fact, he gets the big line of the trailer, about good men sometimes having to wear masks. So now we can throw a bit of "The Dark Knight" influence in there.
