Listen To Joseph Gordon-Levitt 'Songify' The Presidential Race
by Sean ComerRoll over, Cronkite, and tell Edward R. Murrow the news: the 2012 presidential race has been "songified."
Between making practically every movie he's in just that little bit better - including probably "The Dark Knight Rises" - and making dangerously adorkable videos with pal Zooey Deschanel, the absurdly talented Joseph Gordon-Levitt apparently also makes some time for staying well informed. With a schedule like his, it's understandable that he probably does so while spending some quality time with his trusty Stratocaster.
And as this clip proves conclusively, we're all the better for his multitasking.
Levitt recently got with rising online comedy virtuosos and "Auto-Tune the News" creators The Gregory Brothers, cranked comedy levels to "11," ripped the "Volume" knob off and brought us all "Songify The News." They've taken just a few of the more absurd moments of the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, slathered them with the only thing often making Katy Perry and T-Pain bearable, and mixed it all up into the only finished product that will ever have you busting a move to John Stossel's hot verse.
Although, and I can't lie about this, that ending break-down remixing Newt Gingrich telling me to "get cash, get money" is a hot Lil' Wayne sample waiting to happen.
What? If Jay-Z can take his daughter's squeeling and include on a track summing up her birth as "shit happens," what's so unlikely about a hot hook featuring a former Speaker Of The House?
Face it, everybody. This process damn sure won't be getting any less ridiculous. This little ditty just has me hoping there's a sequel song - this time, one that doesn't forget that a certain candidate lifted part of a moving rally-the-troops speech from a "Pokemon" movie.
