Fall TV: Lin-Manuel Miranda Brings 'Hamilton' to 'Drunk History'

For those Broadway fans who are having a hard time getting over Lin-Manuel Miranda's departure from the Hamilton cast, the upcoming season of Drunk History on Comedy Central should provide a little relief. On a special season-four episode of the series, Miranda will revisit the biography of Alexander Hamilton, and he'll do so after drinking a lot of Tennessee whiskey.

The fourth season of the series, which features inebriated narrators recounting moments from American history while the stories are re-enacted by celebrity players, debuted this week on Comedy Central, but it's a yet-to-air November episode that has everyone talking. Typically, the big-name stars who are willing to be involved with the show are the (presumably) sober re-enactors, but the Hamilton episode will feature the superstar Miranda in the role of sodden narrator. It's a casting coup that has series creator Derek Waters very excited.

"He does the whole thing and there are some parts in there that he didn't get to fit into the musical," Waters told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm really thankful he wanted to do it. We had a blast."

Miranda did not, however, go as far as some Drunk History narrators do in embracing the role.

"He does not barf in the episode," Waters says. "Now the narrators don’t drink until I get there. It helps me know what level of drunk they are. In the past, they would sometimes be a little too drunk if they drink without me. So that's a big change."
