Why was Liam Neeson's Cameo Cut From 'The Hangover: Part II'?

If you were looking forward to seeing Liam Neeson as a quirky tattoo artist, you're just going to have to wait until the actor opens up his own tattoo parlor (hey, it could happen).

Neeson was set to appear in 'The Hangover: Part II' in a quick cameo as a tattoo artist in Bangkok, but the scene that he shot will be left on the cutting room floor and won't make it to the final film.

Don't worry, there isn't some kind of crazy feud between director Todd Phillips and Neeson that led to the decision: it's all about scheduling. Phillips needed to re-shoot some of the tattoo parlor scenes, but Neeson was unavailable as he had already moved on to film the sequel to "Clash of the Titans," in which he plays the god Zeus.

That made things tricky for Phillips, who obviously still needed the tattoo artist in as a character: we know from the trailer that Stu ends up with a face tattoo from the gang's wild night in Bangkok. So, Phillips brought in Nick Cassavetes to fill in for the absent Neeson. Cassavetes is an actor and director who played small roles in "Face/Off" and "Entourage," and directed films like "The Notebook" and "My Sister's Keeper."

It's definitely disappointing news. I was looking forward to seeing Neeson play the tattoo artist, who is reportedly supposed to be a completely crazy character. With the role originally filled by Mel Gibson, who was replaced by Neeson, who was then replaced by Cassavetes, one has to wonder: is there a "Hangover" tattoo artist curse? Will Cassavetes make it into the final film?
