'Les Miserables' Director Gushes About Working With Anne Hathaway
by Shannon KeirnanWith “Les Miserables” due out soon (December!), it’s nice to hear that the stars of the movie are pleasing their director—it bodes well for a good flick.
And please the director a certain Miss Anne Hathaway certainly has. Tom Hooper spoke quite glowingly of his Fantine recently, saying:
“This performance, it is quite breathtaking. The day we shot it on set, the crew were kind of absolutely staggered by it. She went to this incredibly raw and intense place to play this role. She offered to cut her hair because that’s what happens to the character, and she was truly committed to going on this journey and did the most immaculate amount of research. I don’t think I’ve worked with a better-prepared actor in terms of the amount of the months and months of work that she put in to build up to this moment.”
It’s good to know that while the classy Miss Hathaway may not have the greatest track record with men, she’s still a consummate professional, and seriously talented lady. Judging from the stills and the trailer that have thus far been released, audiences can certainly plan on having a whole lot of beautifully crying Hathaway breaking our hearts.
And the other members of the cast are certainly no less talented. There’s Hugh Jackman, Sacha Barn Cohen, Amanda Seyfried, Russell Crowe, Helena Bonham Carter, and Eddie Redmayne, among others, which is a pretty spectacular line up all in all.
If you’re as excited to see this as I am, the nod to Hathaway from her director just whets your appetite a little more for what seems to be shaping up to be a really gorgeous adaptation.
