'X Factor' Lip Sync Scandal: LeRoy Bell Thinks It's Funny

'X Factor' Lip Sync Scandal: LeRoy Bell Thinks It's Funny Most singers, if they were caught lip syncing on national television, would be pretty embarrassed about it. But 60-year-old "X Factor" contestant LeRoy Bell is above that. Instead, he's laughing.

"When I saw it, I just fell out laughing,” Bell told THR in reference to being caught lip syncing. "What the heck?’ It’s like a spoof or something."

Though many fans saw the lip syncing reveal as a bit of a betrayal, Bell doesn't think much of it. "We have to have a ‘save me’ song and we have another song. So, we don’t want to waste time doing the ensemble song," Bell explained. "So, we prerecord it and that’s that. I wasn’t paying attention. It’s kind of funny, though."

It's a reasonable excuse: the ensemble song is purely for entertainment purposes, it's not one of the songs the contestants sing for consideration from judges or voters. However, this makes you wonder if there's any funny business as far as the other songs go as well. In fact, there was a moment while the Stereo Hogzz were singing in which it looked like there was sound coming when the mics were away from their mouths.

Whether or not that's the case, Bell's fellow contestants are taking every opportunity to make fun of him for the screw-up: "Of any video before I go to sleep every night, I at least watch it ten times and I just think, ‘Hm, that’s why you don’t put people on there that’s 60 years old,’" said Trace, the frontman of the Stereo Hogzz.

The smart-mouthed 14-year-old rapper Astro was even snappier about it: "I don’t tease him, but I watch it on YouTube all the time and laugh."
