Leighton Meester confirms she is leaving Gossip Girl

Leighton Meester leaving Gossip Girl Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has ended speculation surrounding her departure from the hit CW show after confirming that she is planning to leave the popular hit series and move on with her acting career. The twenty four year old star has said that she will remain on the series for another two seasons before being written out.

Leighton has confirmed that she will remain on the show for another two years, and this is because that is the time that she is currently under contract for. She is already expanding her acting career, and will be the star of the up and coming Country Strong, which will hit the big screen in January 2011 and will also star Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

Meester has had quite a bit to admit and reveal in interviews recently, having spoken in a recent interview about her quest for love. She said that whilst she would like to be sharing her life with someone there was nothing wrong with being twenty four and still waiting for the right guy to come along.

The Gossip Girl actress also admitted that in the past she went to some wild parties, and speaking at a recent interview she said: "We had craaaazy parties, we had DJ's, bands, an ice luge, a fire twirler. One of my roommates burned off her bangs on the stove trying to light a cigarette. I mean, drinking is one thing - overdrinking is another. And drugs are something that I do not tolerate at all. You'd be surprised how many people do it. If you go out and you're living the nightlife scene, that's what people do."
