Leaked 'Mad Men' Finale Hoax Would Be AMC's 'The Sopranos'

Leaked 'Mad Men' Finale Hoax Would Be AMC's 'The Sopranos' "We laugh because it's funny, and we laugh because it's true."

-Robert DeNiro, as Al Capone in "The Untouchables"

It's entirely possible that there's more than one person in residence among the Interwebz who's really gullible enough to believe that Matthew Weiner has a complete hard copy of his eventual "Mad Men" series finale just laying about somewhere. I optimistically believe not very many, but there's a few.

I hate to burst that minority's collective bubble - especially if comedy writer Jason Woliner's Twitter antics recounted by The Huffington Post had you changing your shorts - but "Mad Men" isn't riding off into AMC's sunset until 2014 at the earliest, and it probably won't be until then that you hear Word One about how it all ends for Don Draper. Woliner was aided in his delightful little rib by the "Human Giant" director's cohort Aziz Ansari, who retweeted Woliner's exclamation "HOLY SHIT i was right!! LEAKED FINAL PAGE OF MAD MEN FINALE SCRIPT" Tuesday evening.

It would be a ridiculously elaborate ending to what's been a very smart but understated show. Still, when you read all the way through the page he tweeted, you can't deny for a second that this would be an epic, mind-blowing final moments for Don Draper. What started as a joke is actually....well, pretty interesting, in truth.

At the bottom, the script concludes "CREDITS. SOPRANOS-LEVEL TV HISTORY." For better or worse, that's not too far off. Big, surreal twists like this can receive unpredictable reactions. The way "The Sopranos" ended just plain confused most people. "Lost" concluding in a church didn't merely confuse, it enraged.

This, though?
