Lauren Alaina Might Be Forced Out of 'American Idol'

TMZ is reporting that "American Idol" finalist Lauren Alaina may have to drop out of the contest altogether, as her voice is nearly shot.

At rehearsal this afternoon, Alaina - who has been steadily losing her voice - was supposed to sing three songs, but could only get through one without struggling. She was totally unable to perform the third. The onset doctor has ordered her to not even speak, much less sing, and there is a "real possibility" she will not perform on tonight's show.

Meanwhile, third-place contestant Haley Reinhart is rehearsing, and ready to step in if necessary, according to The Wrap.

"We probably won't know until just before the show," a source close to the production confirmed.

Reinhart has already made waves today with the announcement that she has a new, original single ready to go for Wednesday's finale, sparking rumors that she may aready be signed to a record deal. If she tacked an "American Idol" win onto a career she was already getting started, it would be a massive, unprecedented launch.

As stated above, nobody will know until the show kicks off, but either Reinhart or Alaina will face off against McCreery for the top title. Stay tuned.
