Lady Gaga Signs on for First Role in Film
by Shannon KeirnanIs Lady Gaga expanding on her career options?
“Yes, it’s true, I will be making my debut as an actress,” the Born This Way singer/songwriter confirms.
Gaga will be playing the role of Lady Chameleon in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez flick “Machete Kills.” The movie is a sequel to 2010’s “Machete,” and will follow Danny Trejo’s character through Mexico as he hunts down the villainous Mel Gibson, who is intent on launching a weapon into space and starting up a nuclear war. No disagreements with the casting choice on this one.
We’ve seen Gaga gyrating and costume changing in her assortment of bizarre music videos, but movie shoots are a different kind of hard work. The singer already maintains a rigorous concert schedule, and is working diligently to produce a follow-up album to the widely acclaimed Born This Way. So how is the eccentric star settling into acting?
“I’M SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane” the blonde, wig-favoring singer Tweeted.
We wonder if she’ll maintain her three-exclamation-point enthusiasm for the entire filming process.
Who the Lady Chameleon is remains a mystery, but the newly released promo shots show a sexy Gaga in lingerie holding a smoking gun and wrapped in a wolf pelt. Knowing Rodriguez and his love for butt-kicking, undie-clad ladies, it’s a fair bet that Gaga’s role will involve a lot of attacking people with high kicks and merciless shots to the face.
Gaga will be in good company while being splattered with fake blood. The cast includes notables such as Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson, and Danny Trejo.
The movie releases next year. Meanwhile, the title of Gaga’s new album is expected to be released in September.
