Lady Gaga Raises Relief Funds Through Prayer Bracelet for Japan

Lady Gaga works fast. Just hours after the 8.9 quake and 10-meter tsunami in Japan, Lady Gaga announced her efforts to raise relief funds on twitter, which include a specially designed bracelet.

The red and white wristband was designed by the singer and includes the words, “We Pray for Japan.” The bracelet also includes her “monster” claw symbol and Japanese characters.

As she tweeted, "I Designed a Japan Prayer Bracelet....ALL proceeds will go to Tsunami Relief Efforts. Go Monsters."

The $5 price tag can be increased by any purchases wishing to boost their donation.

Lady Gaga has deep feelings for Japan. In 2009, Lady Gaga got two tattoos in while in the country, including one that read “Tokyo Love.” The following year, she introduced an alter ego to Japan, a male model named Jo Calderone. Although she never confirmed it was actually her. And of her work with Japanese photographer Araki, she said, “He did not photography my image; he photographed my soul.”

Gaga's bracelet can be purchased through her official store.

The Red Cross is also accepting funds by text. As many celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, urge via Tweet: "Text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific."
