Lady Gaga to Perform at Super Bowl
by EG
We don't know yet which two NFL teams will play in this season's Super Bowl, but now we know the most important thing about the game: the half-time performer. Lady Gaga officially announced this week that she will be the headliner for the mid-game show, ending weeks of speculation that the "Born This Way" singer might land America's biggest musical gig.
Gaga has already proved that she can wow Super Bowl fans. At last year's game, she delivered a rendition of the national anthem that was widely praised. Her outrageous style and penchant for over-the-top showmanship, too, would make her seem to be the perfect fit for a venue that typically orchestrates performances that go well over the top.
Last year's half-time show was headlined by the band Coldplay, but the show was stolen by guest performers Bruno Mars and Beyonce. Mars himself had headlined the previous year's show, and Beyonce had been the headliner the year before that. No word yet whether or not the pair will be on hand yet again this year.
The suddenly ubiquitous Gaga has recently released a new single, "Perfect Illusion," and she is also appearing in the new season of American Horror Story. A new Gaga album is due out on October 21.
