Lady Gaga to Mentor 'American Idol' Contestants Next Week

Lady Gaga to Mentor 'American Idol' Contestants Next Week Will Casey arrive in an egg-like orb? Will Lauren end up proclaiming her love for Judas at the top of her lungs? You never know what's gonna happen next week, when Lady Gaga will take a starring behind the scenes role on "American Idol."

Fox confirmed today that Lady Gaga will serve as a mentor to the final four contestants in next Wednesday's episode of the show.

Following in the footsteps of Miley Cyrus, who played a similar role in last year's season, Gaga will provide some top-tier pop star guidance to remaining contestants James Durbin, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery and Haley Reinhart.

Gaga performed "Alejandro" and "Bad Romance" on the show last year, and at the time she complained about the poor editing of the performances, which clocked in at over 6 minutes.

She seems to have gotten over that issue, or at least found a way to promote her new "Born This Way" album (released officially on May 23rd) by reaching out to the "American Idol" audience without having to deal with potential "Idol" producer performance fails.

Haley helped promote the new album last week by singing the yet-to-be-released Gaga song "You and I," but Wednesday will have the "American Idol" contestants mining the song catalog of rock icons Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, who wrote classic tunes like "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "Stand By Me," and "Yakety Yak"...you know..."don't talk back."

In other "American Idol" news, Stephen Tyler will add some more promotional wood to the bonfire by premiering his new video “(It) Feels So Good" on next Thursday's results show.

Oh yeah, and supposedly there will be some actual contestants involved in the whole proceedings this week as well...
